Business alliance with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Karasawa Agricultural Machinery

Karasawa Agricultural Machinery Service Co., Ltd. (Tomi, Nagano; President: Takeyuki Karasawa), KiliMOL Co., Ltd. operated by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Mikio Oyama), and HAKKI AFRICA Inc. (Kamakura, Kanagawa; President: Reiji Kobayashi) launched a business alliance to begin agricultural mechanization initiatives in Kenya.

Background
Karasawa, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, and KiliMOL have exported agricultural machinery to Kenya twice before, working to address food shortages linked to population growth in Africa.
HAKKI AFRICA provides microfinance to African businesses that lack credit histories and struggle to obtain loans from major banks or investors.
Through this alliance, Karasawa’s procurement capability and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines / KiliMOL’s logistics will deliver agricultural machinery to Kenya, while HAKKI’s finance will help lower-income farmers purchase Japanese equipment. Greater mechanization can raise productivity and help address food insecurity and hunger.
Enabling equipment purchases can also create jobs and contribute to employment and poverty challenges in Africa.
